Striving for fulfilment, career progression, and success is completely normal behaviour, but when the driving factor behind this attitude is a compulsive need to work, it can start negatively affecting other aspects of life. Work addiction is real, and no matter how much people deny it, a huge majority of individuals continue to suffer from it in silence. It is not uncommon for workaholics to work long hours. However, working long hours also does not necessarily mean that you have a work addiction. The difference between these two states is the ability to switch off once your working hours are finished. For example, you can continue to work for 60 hours or even more per week and still not be a workaholic as you can stop worrying about work the minute you leave your office. On the contrary, someone working less than 40 hours a week can still be a workaholic if they keep worrying about their work affairs even when they are home or even on holiday.

The relentless workaholics who aim to work all the time believing that work is more important than anything else in their lives.

The savouring workaholics, who are more invested in the details of their work and get consumed by it.
